At the event there will be refreshments, door prizes, and lots of people to talk to about your amazing summer options.   Some activities are free or very low cost and others are not.  Our goal is to give you the information so you can choose.

5-Day Clubs® and Party Clubs®. These two exciting ministries take place in neighborhood settings such as homes, backyards, schools and community centers all over Pierce County. These fast-paced, 1 1/2 hr. programs are designed to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children on their level in their environment. 5-Day Clubs® are held for five consecutive days, while Party Clubs® are a one-time, monthly or seasonal themed club; such as Christmas, Easter, Soccer, Watermelon... They are a wonderful outreach for your local neighborhood.

Summer resident camp at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island. Camp is coed, for youth ages 6 to 17.
Manitou Art Center
Arts and Crafts for the young and young at heart; pottery, glass, and ceramics classes will be available during daytime, weekend, and evening sessions. Geared-for-success instruction coupled with affordable fees make this a wonderful opportunity for fun and learning. Pottery includes handbuilding, sculpture and work on the potter's wheel. Glass classes focus on fused glass with mosaic offerings.

Family Camp for military families

School year activities for middle school and high school students.
Center for Independence
Youth Transition Summer Workshop. This is for young people ages 16-24 who have a disability and are planning on living independently in the future. The workshop will include learning activities focusing on higher education, employment, and living well with a disability.
Tacoma Lesotho Connection - Booking It Cross Country Run
The 6th Annual Booking It 5K/2K cross-country run/walk that will take place on Saturday August 11, 2012 at Lakewood's Fort Steilacoom Park. Day of race registration will open at 8:00, with the 2K starting at 8:30 and the 5K at 9:00. Walkers in both events will start immediately after the runners.

As in past years, all proceeds from Booking It will be used to fund scholarships for primary and secondary school students in the Southern African country of Lesotho. The school is located in the city of Maseru, which has a Friendship City relationship with the City of Tacoma. All funds go directly to student needs; no overhead or administrative costs are deducted.

Champion Youth Outreach/Young Champions
We will be promoting a youth self defense program, a youth cheer program and a youth soccer program.
Our programs reinforce educational opportunites and family values providing students with the highest level of self-esteem, self confidence and self-discipline. Our martial arts program promotes safety awareness and self-defense. Students are taught verbal and life skills to reinforce good citizenship and family values. Our cheer program combines pom dance and cheerleading into one program. Students are taught cheerleading techniques such as cheers, chants, arm motions, jumps and mounts. Students are also taught pom dance routines. Our soccer program is a combination of class instruction and game play. Students are taught soccer fundamentals through individual and team drills and through game play with lots of positive feedback in a noncompetitive fun environment. Coaches / instructors are not volunteers. They are employees with backgrounds in the specifc sport.
