Here is a shameless plug for OpenDNS.  We use this free service to protect our kids at the Clubhouse from much of the nasty content found on the Internet.  It can  be used at home too – providing a great way to lock down those sites.

This snippet from the OpenDNS newsletter points out one more thing that a lot of parents may not know.

OpenDNS on TV! What You Don’t Know About Your Xbox

Parents, teachers, and school administrators today have a tough job. Keeping kids safe online in a world where everything has a Web browser and Internet connectivity is daunting, especially as schools let out for the summer and kids access more devices off of the OpenDNS protected school network. Luckily OpenDNS parental controls service applies filtering settings everywhere, from the laptop to your kids’ XBox, Wii, Playstation and iPad. But we don’t need to tell you that, you smart OpenDNS user, you. You already know parents can set up OpenDNS on their routers, select the content they want to block (even if its just phishing websites) and voila, it protects every single Internet-connected device in the home.

The experts have taken notice. OpenDNS has been featured on TV news stations around the United States in features about keeping kids safe online not just on computers, but everything that has a browser.

From San Francisco to Tuscon to Charlotte to Memphis, the message is clear: use OpenDNS.
