If you want to understand child psychology, philosophy, political science and theology you can read thousands of books on the subjects – or you can merely delve into Calvin & Hobbes. Few cartoonists captured the joys and pitfalls of “being a kid” as Bill Watterson could.
Pierce College’s wagon – The Tree-House Time Machine – is a celebration of Calvin and Hobbes. In their own words…..
When we heard that we were to design a red wagon, our first thought was of Calvin and Hobbes and their little red wagon. Calvin felt safest in his red wagon; it was the place where he could openly contemplate deep questions about life. This greatly influenced our initial design.
There are two parts to our wagon. It is a time machine: contained in it are the memories of family togetherness. It is also a tree-house: The construction of a tree-house is a traditional father-son project that captures the essence of Lakewood’s Promise of Safe Places.
Please check out their wagon in person and also comment on it online.
